The executive governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde has been tested positive of Coronavirus.
He disclosed his test result via what he tweeted yesterday on his twitter handle.
Saying, “I just received my COVID-19 confirmation test result. It is POSITIVE”.
Seyi Makinde said he was asymptomatic and would continue to remain in Self-Isolation.
Taiwo Adisa, the governor’s spokesman explained that Seyi Makinde attended the National Economic Council known as the NEC meeting in Abuja last week.
He might have contacted the virus then because he met with a number of his colleagues.
Days after, the Nigerian Governor’s Forum (NGF) advised all members who went for the Abuja meeting to go for COVID-19 tests or go into self-isolation.
Luckily, Governor Seyi Makinde went for his own COVID-19 test last week and the test result was stated positively.
The former Chief Medical Director of the University of Ibadan College Hospital (UCH), Prof. Temitope Alonge has now been assigned as the Head of COVID-19 Task Force by the governor himself until he recovers fully.
The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde has enjoined everyone to continue please comply with the directives from the COVID-19 task force.
The curfew in Oyo State between (6:00 AM – 7:00 PM) is still very in place and no gatherings of more than ten people should be held in Oyo State.
He said, “Stay home, and stay safe”.
Also, interstate transportation into and out of the state has been suspended.
Except vehicles carrying food items, medical, pharmaceutical and petroleum products.
All measures will be reviewed on a weekly basis.
